Lock up ya cave kids, Spanish primitive juvenile garage-fuzz punkers The Smoggers are coming to town!

Formed in 2008 and hailing from Seville The Smoggers are one of the most exciting bands in the Spanish garage scene. They have drawn the attention of underground connoisseurs both at home and overseas.

Stay Sick Radio Show (BARRENCE WHITFIELD SPECIAL)

STAY SICK / PBP proudly present:

★ BARRENCE WHITFIELD & THE SAVAGES ★
@The Haunt Brighton 27th Sept 7pm-10pm staysickbrighton.co.uk for info
(Boston, U.S.A.)
http://www.barrencewhitfieldsavages.com/

Barrence Whitfield is a full-throttle soul screamer in the spirit of Little Richard, Wilson Pickett and Solomon Burke. He has been described as the owner of one incredible pair of lungs, with limitless energy and unmatched enthusiasm for his music and his audience. Barrence is a rarity in this business–one of a few black, rock n roll singer/entertainers who Spin Magazine says maintains a frenzied performance.

Whitfield is a performer so consumed with satisfying his audiences that he has been called ‘crazed, frenetic and completely unhinged.’ Barrence, the singer made up of equal parts Arthur Alexander, Nolan Porter and James Carr this mofo burns.’

After college, Barrence, like many organic music lovers, found himself working in a Kenmore Square record shop called Nuggets. There, he was discovered by guitarist Peter Greenberg, of the legendary Boston bands DMZ and The Lyres. Through this introduction, Barrence got his first taste of the rock ‘n roll life and Boston’s music scene. Boston reciprocated in kind with 7 Boston Music Awards.

+ Special Guest Support

★ HIPBONE SLIM & THE KNEE TREMBLERS ★
http://www.voodoorhythm.com/hipboneslim.htm

What can we say about this band? Other than it features three of Britain's most prominent and talented rock 'n' roll musicians, whose individual musical histories take in the best British garage, surf, trash, punk and beat bands of the last 20 years.

The band is led by Sir Bald Diddley aka Hipbone Slim aka The Bald Bomber, who has been a leading world force in the field of surf and rock 'n' roll instrumentals for a decade or more. Currently, he also fronts an array of wierd and wonderful combos including 'The Snags' , ‘The Nine Ton Peanut Smugglers’, ‘Louie and the Louies’, ' Sir Bald & His Wig-Outs' and ‘The Legs’ (with Jorge and Mr. Peeblee - both Dr. Explosion - Spain).

On bull fiddle is John 'Lard' Gibbs , who was the original bass player in Scottish beat kings, the Kaisers and now plays 4 strings for those magnificent (also) Scottish din-makers 'The Wildebeests' and the fabulous ‘Masonics’ with ex Milkshakes Mickey Hampshire and of course Bruce 'Bash' Brand. He has also played both guitar and double bass for Holly Golightly

The near legendary 'Bash' Brand plays drums! Bash has been around for more years and graced more beat combos than he probably cares to remember. He has walloped skins for thee Milkshakes, Headcoats, Mighty Caesars, Holly Golightly, Masonics and various others, including the Link Wray no less! He also played/plays guitar with The Pop Rivets, The Adventures of Parsely, Dutronc and the Clique. Bruce has made more records than you've had hot dinners!

WHAT A BILL!!!

Plus STAY SICK's resident DJs Neil and Chris Sick will be spinning the wax during intermissions.

Advance tickets £10 from Punker Bunker (No booking fee) & Resident Records.

This show is a fiesta of fuzz garage punk to celebrate Mexico city’s finest tequila trash hobres Los Explosivos comin’ to town Playing at the Prince Albert Wed 12th June £6 adv (details below) with gringo garage from sixties psych monkeys the Repeat Prescriptions and punk junkies Spit Shake Sisters (ps. so so sorry for the wildly rascist bad mexican accent... wait till you hear my japanese one for the 5.6.7.8's show on the 22nd!) ★ ★ ★ LOS EXPLOSIVOS ★ ★ ★ http://www.myspace.com/losexplosivos Hailing from gritty Mexico City, Los Explosivos are in the vanguard of the new breed of young punks carrying the torch of Garage Rock! Get Hip first got a glimpse of their greatness when they opened for The Cynics at their Mexico City shows a few years back and immediately made the decision to release their music. The band recorded their first album at Mexico City’s community club/studio/label Alicia, who released it on CD in Mexico. Shortly after Get Hip issued the American version with new artwork while our friends at Slovenly Records released it on LP vinyl. Los Explosivos toured extensively in Europe promoting their own brand of frenetic paced Garage punk mayhem. They regrouped and returned to Mexico City last Fall to record their sophomore record, which polishes ever so slightly the rawness of their debut album while keeping the angst, speed and energy intact! 10 killer new tracks, 8 originals and 2 covers: They render homage to one of the most legendary psychedelic garage bands outta Spain, Los Negativos, with their classic Moscas y Arañas (Flys and Spiders) which turns into a dirty rocker in their hands. The other cover by The Moods features a stellar appearance by The Cynics’ Michael Kastelic rending the lead vocals to the snotty garage tune, the only one on this album sang in English. As every recording, this really captures the raw energy that pours from these boys’ pores! Short and sweet, yet packing a wallop that’s gonna hurt tomorrow! ★ Tickets available now at RESIDENT, PUNKER BUNKER Brighton shops and online at WEGOTTICKETS.COM. http://www.wegottickets.com/event/223803 THE PRINCE ALBERT TRAFALGAR STREET, BRIGHTON 8-11.30PM £6 Adv + BF/MOTD 1 Se Apago - Los Explosivos 2 Diddy Wah Diddy - The Repeat Prescriptions 3 Pretty Youth - Spit Shake Sisters 4 Yes I Do - The Baron Four 5 Enfermedad - Los Explosivos 6 Just The Same As You - The Repeat Prescriptions 7 Girl - The Baron Four 8 Hey Mostro! - Los Explosivos 9 She Said Yeah - The Baron Four 10 You've Got Another Thing Coming - Los Explosivos 11 Five To Four - The Baron Four 12 Bailando!!! - Los Explosivos 13 Changes - The Repeat Prescriptions

Stay Sick Radio Hipsville Special (set one)

Big thanks to Mr A and Ade and all the Hipsvillers. Here's the first set I played back-to-back with Mr Neil Sick. It was recorded live so I can't put up the tracklistings but if you let me know the time in the podcast then I am happy to find out.

And don't forget:
STAY SICK!!!

PLAYING LIVE and feat. ex-members of THEE VICARS we have English garage rhythm and beat at it's finest as played by...

★ ★ ★ THE BARON FOUR ★ ★ ★

In their own world, The Baron Four's rise and development is happening in tandem to The Beatles and The Stones, and you suspect they'd be getting more comparisons to the latter. Yeah, it's that early '60s beat group sound that this new venture are aiming for. Formed following the tragic circumstances that led to the end of awesome garage band Thee Vicars, the remaining members hooked up with players from MFC Chicken for this new band, and 'Yes I Do' is their debut single. Given both previous bands' fascination with recreating authentic garage sounds, we'd be surprised if this didn't follow suit.

Of course it does, but maybe more than ever do they try and replicate the thrill of those primal garage recordings, right from the beginning ushered in by bands like The Wailers'. 'Yes I Do' isn't short on catchiness, and when that proto-rock sound gives way to a scream and a feral guitar solo they sound bang on top of their game. B-side 'Girl' throws a few extra twangs around for a more surfy feel and is a little slower than the lead, but no less entertaining. Radio Caroline will have these songs on heavy rotation before long.

★ PLUS your favourite STAY SICK Dee Jays will also be spinnin' boppin' n rockin' blues, R&R, 60s garage, surf, sleazy instros and a healthy dose of all things CRAMPS all night long!!!
